Balance of CAVI (10/02/2010)

Specialty Care Center for Women Victims of Violence (CAVI) of Mazarrón has analyzed the services provided in during 2009, in a year that have opened 59 new records, adding it to the 193 existing records since 2006.

The main users of CAVI are women with an average of 35 different nationalities, in 2009, there have been: 62% of Spanish users, 18% of Ecuador, 7% of Moroccans, 3.5% Portuguese and Colombian and 1.7% Polish, French, Paraguayan, Mexican, British and Peruvian.

Most cases respond to physical and mental abuse, of which 32% have been denounced, in which 23% have agreed a protection order and has asked mobile telecare in only nine cases.

The total number of individualized care by a multidisciplinary team of CAVI was 1017, of which 65.45% had requested psychological, 10% benefited from group therapy, 11.10% has demanded social care and 22.6% have required legal assistance.

Other services required by users were: psychological care for children of women victims of domestic violence, counseling for teenagers who have suffered gender violence in their relationships and it is noteworthy, telephone translation service for women immigrants.

In order to increase socialization, self-esteem and information of users of CAVI and the general public, the Center regularly conducts various workshops dates framed as significant as the International Day Against Violence Against Women and International Women's Day .

The workshop highlights of 2009 were: information and awareness campaign, workshop report, visit the Occupational Center, visit the Town Hall, informational workshops, film forum, informative workshop on the complaint, Mountain Bike II motion against domestic violence awareness campaign in schools, self-defense workshop for women, social skills workshop, women's participation and decision making, etc.

The CAVI is a service created by the Institute of Women of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the City of Mazarrón, which offers individual and group treatment for female victims of abuse with a comprehensive care professionals from different approaches : legal, social and psychological.
