Benefit more than 600,000 people a year traveling the road

The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Highways, has hired the refurbishment work on the layout of the road connecting the hamlet Mazarrón Lorca Morata, D-4, with the aim of improving road safety thereof.

The road connects the D-4 round of Mazarrón with the D-8, from which you access the town of Lorca.

It is a tertiary pathway with significant agricultural use different connecting population centers scattered along its route, and along which more than 600,000 vehicles a year.

This work will improve the quality of life for all residents living or working in the districts of Lewis Mazarron and La Atalaya, as well as passing through this road to access the flock and Gañuelas, or the hamlet of Lorca Morata.

The project was conducted in two phases, one of which has already been contracted to a company Murcia for an amount of 1,029,495 euros, which will improve a stretch of six miles, between mile markers 3 and 9.

In the coming months will be bid on the next leg, between kilometers 12 and 14, amounting to 1,380,269 euros.

This road has sections that need to adapt to the changing needs of traffic, which has grown considerably in recent years, which "will adapt the layout and the platform will be expanded to nine feet, softening the radius of the curves dangerous, so as to minimize the risks of accidents, "said CEO Road, José Guijarro.

Moreover, Jose Guijarro said that "as additional measures of road safety, road shoulders will be expanded and improved the additions to the road and drains, and the beacon signals.
