First competition of 'Short Stories: Women's Lives' (19/02/2009)

The Department of Women's Hall of Mazarrón informs citizens on the first competition 'Short Stories: Women's Lives', which may involve all those over 12 who want no limit on the number of entries.

The aim of this literary contest is to raise youth and other citizens about areas of discrimination suffered by women in contemporary society and promote a critical attitude towards them.

The works submitted must reflect the situation of inequality experienced by women, in the family, professional or social issues such as domestic violence, sexual harassment, barriers in access to male-dominated professions, the treatment discrimination of women in other cultures and religions, etc..

In the contest rules stipulated that those jobs that include aggressive connotations and / or damage the sensitivity of society will be eliminated by the jury.

Also, the competition includes two categories: the first from 12 to 18 and the second of the 19 and older.

The awards, divided in separate forms, awarded to the winner of the first category a Mini Laptop Mobile Intel 512 MB, 4 GB, Linux wifi webcam pearl white, the first runners-Portable DVD player 7 "and the second runner-up prize Portable DVD player 7 ".

The winner of the second category will receive a laptop AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual Core.

2GB RAM and 160 GB hard drive.

Windows Vista Home Premium.

The jury will consist of the Women Councillor of the City of Mazarrón, the technician responsible for the Department of Social Policy, a representative of women's associations in the municipality, one representative of the City Council and one representative of the municipality's educational .

The Secretary shall exercise functions of the Equality Officer of the City of Mazarrón.

The films will be from February 23 to March 27, 2009 in the Department of Women, located on Calle Fernández Caballero n º 7, 1 º E next to the Civil Registry and the municipal library, 9:00 to 15:00 .

CONTEST

PARTICIPANTS

May participate in the competition all those over 12 who want no limit on the number of entries.

OBJECTIVE

The aim of this competition is to sensitize the youth and other citizens about areas of discrimination suffered by women in our society and promote a critical attitude towards them.

THEME AND FEATURES

All works submitted must reflect, with a critical eye, the situation of inequality and discrimination against women, in the family, professional or social.

They may include among others the following aspects:

- GBV

- Sexual harassment

- Harassment based on sex

- Barriers to choice and access to male-dominated professions.

- Difficulties of women in advancement in their careers.

- Discriminatory treatment of women in other cultures and religions

- Inequality of women in the workplace.

- Gender inequality within the family and society.

Jobs that are excluded include aggressive connotations or impairs the sensitivity of society (be the very jury who determine the exclusion of such works).

It may participate in any of the following categories:

Category 1 (12 to 18)

Category 2 (19 over)

The work must be unpublished and original, not having been submitted in other contests.

PRESENTATION

The story is presented in DIN-A4 format, typed or prepared on computer (font Times 12 or similar) double-spaced and on one side.

The author will present two envelopes.

The first should contain the work and will not name or artist's signature or any other kind of annotation that can deduce the identity of the participant.

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in automatic revocation of the work.

The second envelope will contain the name of the author, address, telephone and photocopy of the DNI.

On the outside of both envelopes shall specify "short story contest: women's lives" and the category in which it occurs.

In addition, the exterior of the envelope containing the work must be marked with the number 1, while the envelope containing personal data should show the number two.

The films will be from February 23 to March 27, 2009, the Office of Women, located in the C / Fernández Caballero n º 7, 1 º E (next to the Civil Registry and the municipal library), at 9am 15 hours.

JURY

The jury will consist of the Councillor for Women, the technician responsible for the Department of Social Policy, a representative of women's associations in the municipality, a representative of the City Council and a representative of the educational environment of our town.

First, check one by one all the works submitted to verify compliance with the terms set out in the rules and admission; or disposal.

The Jury will assess compliance with the objectives of the competition and artistic quality and originality and effectiveness in providing information and sensitization.

The jury may declare the award in the case of considering that none of the papers is qualified to be awarded.

The decision of the jury, in any case, beyond appeal.

The contestants and by the mere act of participating in this competition, expressly waive the exercise of all claims against the decisions of that.

WINNING WORKS

The winning works will remain the exclusive property of the City of Mazarrón, reserving the rights of exploitation of works.

The Jury will be announced at the website of the City of Mazarrón www.mazarron.es .

NO WORK REWARDED

Non-winning work may be removed by the author / as within 30 days following the publication of the decision, in the same premises where they were presented.

If the deadline had not retired, it is understood that the individual authors relinquish their property for the City of Mazarrón, who can use them when they deem most appropriate.

FINAL RULES

Mazarrón City Council is not responsible for loss, damage or loss of the works presented at the competition during his term of not providing insurance to cover those risks.

It is the responsibility of those contestants any claims arising in relation to the authorship of the work and possible plagiarism.

Taking part in the competition implies knowledge and acceptance by the / as contestants of these rules, rights and obligations arising therefrom why can not challenge them once formalized presentation.

The bodies will be empowered to resolve any questions that arise and make the necessary arrangements for the smooth running of the competition, in all matters not provided in these rules.
