The Ministry of Agriculture and Water has recently launched a call for the selection of Local Action Groups (GAL), candidates manage Participatory Local Development Strategy for the period 2014-2020.

LAG are non-profit associations, whose internal organization are represented socio-economic, public and private partners in a given territory and whose objective is the implementation of a regional strategy for rural development through the LEADER methodology.
The LEADER initiative has demonstrated over the years its ability to promote the development of rural areas.
In Murcia the implementation of LEADER aims to improve the conditions for entrepreneurship and job creation, as well as improving the attractiveness and services available in rural areas.
However, the main objective of Participatory Local Development is to promote social inclusion, fight poverty and all forms of discrimination.
Local Action Groups candidates to manage Participatory Local Development Strategies for the programming period 2014-2020, must meet the following requirements:
The municipalities of the territory affected by the strategy shall include as partners.
They should also join youth organizations, organizations that promote gender equality and social inclusion, promoting an environmental order and all those who express a legitimate interest.
The groups that are selected will be responsible for the development of Participatory Local Development Strategies (EDLP) and its implementation until 2020, which are like programs that contemplate all potential projects, executable actions and investments in a territory trying to foster their development from all potential and local resources, and their own people from that area.
The population of each area must exceed 10,000 inhabitants and not exceed 150,000.
It is established as part of predelimitación the view that the territory comprising at least five municipalities and geographic continuity.
The selected groups should have a technical team with qualified training in the tasks and experience in management strategies LEADER tasks, in front of which there will be a manager, and must agree to sign a cooperation agreement with the Autonomous Community of Murcia, if the strategy is selected.
The only eligible 4 GAL maximum in the region of Murcia.
The deadline for submitting applications is 3 months.
The aim of the Department of Employment and Local Development is that the City of Mazarrón, associations and entities are integrated for the first time in local action groups, to participate in rural development in our region.
