The students of Urban 1 Virginia Martinez, Rocío Pastor Olga Pagan and have shaped its conclusions of study that have targeted the Bay of Puerto de Mazarrón Management.

It is one of several projects that the students of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) being developed all along this course and have Mazarrón as a place of practical training.

ArquitecturaON born Driven by a group of teachers UPCT coordinated by Marcos Ros with the support and cooperation of the City of Mazarrón.

The Rector UPCT, José Antonio Franco and the Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco García, signed an agreement that is giving interesting results last September.

The intention as expressed Marcos Ros at the time "is not to replace any official urban plan, but provide ideas and contribute to local development."

A total of 200 students from different courses of Degree of Architecture UPCT those Mazarron as a place of practical training.

In their study the students of Urban 1 thus narrate their conclusions: "After analyzing Bay, we find a neighborhood whose main problem is the seasonality of its residents, ie in summer is a nice place full of activity while in winter hardly any people we intuit that this may be due to several factors. It is an almost exclusively residential neighborhood that only has an activity center composed of equipment, and the inhabitants are forced to leave Bay to meet your needs, there are hardly any areas public open space where relationships can occur, the streets are monotonous pace preference lies with the vehicle at all times, leaving pedestrians in the background, which causes a disinterest wander Bay.

Our aim is therefore to revitalize Bay;

generating activity that will attract both residents and tourists.

To this end, we propose an initial idea is to incorporate into new areas of activity Bay (composed mainly of equipment and tertiary buildings) located in remote spots.

Thus, the neighborhood is in balance land use, thus becoming self-sufficient.

The idea is also to unite those businesses with a network of pedestrian streets new proposal, so that they are connected and pedestrian use these roads to get from one place to another.

We intend thereby give preference to pedestrians.

In addition, public space is recovered in the streets creating small squares with microsurgical operations (ground advantage unused) to promote social life.

In short, our intention is that Bay is much more balanced, self-sufficient for the comfort of residents and citizens in general, much more active.

That our proposal citizens can enjoy this public space projected to result in relationships and social exchange. "

Also during this week a total of 25 students Photography Course led by Professor Fernando Miguel García performed by the Hermitage Island in company practices photography and under the tutelage of renowned photographer David Frutos.
