Leiva They install a weather station to control pests and to study the introduction of new crops (13/11/2014)

It has recently been installed in the village of Leiva a weather station that mainly farmers and technicians have real and adjusted data and as a basis for the introduction of new crops.

Thus, the Department of Agriculture responds to a request made at a technical conference held during the last February focused on fruit growing bone in Murcia and attended by over 200 people.

The installation was made possible by several agreements that the City of Mazarrón has signed with the Instituto Murciano Agricultural Research and Development (IMID) and a municipal company that has given the land.

Features include a fail systems software and hardware for communications and disseminating instant data are available on the website of the SIAM www.siam.imida.es

With this, located on the west side of town, they are already two meteorological stations installed in Mazarrón.

The second is closer to the coast, particularly in the village of Cañada de Gallego.

Weather stations are very useful for farmers, not only to study the introduction of new crops but also to adopt control strategies against pests and diseases, especially in areas of arid or semi-arid climate to avoid evapotranspiration.

The Councillor for Agriculture, Magdalena Mendez, checked on site by local technicians the features of this facility.
