"International Day of Working Women" 2013 (01/03/2013)

Magdalena Mendez Noguera, Councillor for Rural Development, began a press conference stating that from the socialist group and also by his council, he was working on promoting women's cooperatives in areas as important for Mazarrón such as tourism and agriculture.

Stating that he had recently done a course in Mazarrón home help involving twenty-one women.

He went on to Social Services Councilwoman Maria Martinez Sanchez entering his appearance in what was the beginning of women's claims.

He indicated that in the eighteenth century, early nineteenth century, the labor movement held a traditional patriarchal structure position regarding equality of women.

In 1909, was held in the U.S. for the first time, the day of socialist women.

In 1910, during the Second International Conference of Socialist Women, reiterated the demand for universal suffrage for all women.

In 1911 was the first International Day of Working Women, which demanded the right to vote, hold public office, right to work and employment discrimination.

So on, we fought for rights previously denied to us and thanks to the efforts of everyone we have progressed.

It has been more than 100 years, and certainly our situation had improved.

But now, our progress has been hampered in recent months by the Popular Party government.

As an example say that in the last council meeting, and before the motion presented by the PSOE, Popular Party spokesman, Francisco Blaya, said "they were taken the day of working women more seriously."

If that were so, his party (PP) would not be causing setbacks on the rights of women.

We impose labor reform, restricting permission to breastfeeding by prohibiting that they can exercise both spouses.

We impose a law on court fees which hurts especially women, are women, mothers, daughters, widows, divorcees etc.

For all this everyday is needed agile and free justice and the Government of Mariano Rajoy has put us even harder, - said Councilwoman Maria Martinez.

If apostasen, seriously, the woman would have supported the need to develop an employment plan with specific active policies to promote equality and eliminate the wage gap because women still perceive 28% less on average per year in positions with same responsibilities and powers.

Would support the maintenance of the rights under the law for the promotion of personal autonomy and care for people in situations of dependency.

No bonus would eliminate the social security of those carers, of whom 94% are women now swelling the ranks of the unemployed.

Popular government does not care about women's rights.

Do not want to join in the struggle to reconcile family and working men and women, again trimmed their rights and services.

Scraps that rolled directly into us women.
