Cairn amphora remains focused the inaugural lecture of "Carlantum" (18/02/2013)

Tonight begins the VHS in Mazarrón (UPM) the XI edition of the conference "Carlantum" which, again, will focus on the history of the municipality of Mazarrón.

The charge of this conference will start and professed archaeologist Maria del Carmen Berrocal Caparrós who will talk about the "late Roman amphora production in Mazarrón".

Berrocal is a professor at the Open University in Cartagena and in the IES "El Bohio".

During the last few years has been developing his doctoral thesis on the remains amphora found in El Mojon.

Indeed, his talk will discuss the production of dates late Roman amphorae in Mazarrón and Aguilas both.

This study has achieved great progress thanks to the remains found in the excavations in El Mojon and other parts of the municipality, and to date have identified a pottery in Mazarrón, one in El Mojon and a third, in imitation of the preceding Eagles.

The presentation will take place from 21:30 pm in the auditorium of the People's University, located on Constitution Avenue.

This same space hosts the exhibition "Argenta" as initiative parallel to this conference, which was inaugurated last Friday by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, the director of the UPM, Jose Maria Lopez, and Francisco Garcia photographer Jorquera, who has provided most of the photographs for this exhibition.

As explained by the director of the UPM, "this show was created as a tribute to Mazarrón photographers who have allowed us to enjoy today graphically the history of the municipality."

Nearly 200 photographs ranging from 1900-1999 Guirada Luis Federico Guirao, Salvador Zamora Fernandez, Manuel Garcia Rodriguez, Felipe Rodriguez, Alfonso Mora, Juanita Zamora, Juan Segura and Francisco Garcia himself Jorquera.

The exhibition will be open until March 15, Monday through Friday from 10 to 13 and from 18 to 22 hours.
