The Sports Sector Council focuses on the Sports Schools (10/09/2011)

The Department of Citizen Participation of the City of Mazarrón has begun the second round of meetings of the Councils of Citizen Participation (CPC), and has done so with the Sectoral Council of Sports, which brought together about thirty people, mostly representatives of sports clubs in the municipality.

The council focused on the sports schools, in short, will be launched from the Sports Department.

The Councillor for Citizen Participation, David Fernandez, along with the mayor of Sports, Andrew James, requested the different clubs to submit to the session a school sports project which will reflect the monitors, objectives and the price thereof.

Fernández considered that the price should have reference to the last year because, in this way, the session may begin to pay half the clubs in late November and the other half upon completion.

This proposal was well received by those present and so will undertake the development of those schools with more liquidity.

Also during the meeting spoke about the possibility that schools may have the same price, so that by the economic division between clubs to create a reference table equally to all, which would mark guidelines payment referring to the number of participating students in each school.

The club representatives also presented the problems they face when implementing the various schools.

In this sense, most agreed the handicap which involves the purchase of sports equipment and computers in these times of economic crisis and that the expenditure they have to do is an added expense that sometimes is lost when the children leave school mid-course.

Also, some sports such as bocce and handball have to deal with the low popularity among younger people generally prefer more pull sports like football, basketball and athletics.

Despite this drawback, the representatives of these sports are committed to present their projects and work to promote these minority sports among children in the municipality.

On 20 September, has called a further meeting with the clubs which will describe the findings on the projects, as well as organizing, pricing and rates for the current school year.

There was also time to discuss the Sports Gala, organized by the Ayuntamiento de Mazarrón and the radio "Voice of Guadalentín" which is already prepared and submitted to the media in the coming days.
