Fruitful Citizen Participation Councils (14/07/2011)

The neighborhood council in the West Zone of the municipality, which comprises the hamlets from the fold, The Watchtower, Gańuelas and Leiva, was held the day before yesterday in the theater of the sheep pen and was attended by a dozen people who presented their suggestions and complaints the new government team represented by the mayor, Ginés Campillo, Councillor for Citizen Participation and the Environment, David Fernandez, the Councillor for Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, Magdalena Mendez, and the Councillor for Social Policy, Equality, Health and Heritage Maria Martinez.

Among the issues discussed at the meeting highlighted the need for all villages are served and in good condition.

In this sense, the residents thanked the representatives of the hall "who have come here instead of having to go to City Hall and we personally have to make an appointment one by one to expose our needs."

The representative of the association "House Colour", Manel Quiles, gave a positive initiative and commented that "if this forum will be very positive progress."

Quiles asked the consistory to consider the problems that this association has with the municipal water service, Aqualia, not having a supply network for each house staff, something they promised the government team.

For its part, the neighborhood association of "sheep pen" called to arrange a water leak affecting the local church and the school could be reconverted into the Majada Social Centre for the enjoyment of neighbors.

These two issues are already being studied by the municipality of Mazarrón.

Studies also request a meeting with the Ministry of Public Works of the Autonomous Community to discuss the works in the D-4, as well as the possibility to extend them with some improvements proposed by the neighbors.

Also, yesterday held a sectoral meeting of Education, Culture and Youth attended various AMPAS, cultural associations and citizens of the municipality during the meeting, held at the Universidad Popular de Mazarrón, a consensus was reached to resume the abandoned youth policies from the town hall for over 10 years.

Also bore fruit in the dialogue the Council's commitment to promote culture and improve education in the municipality.

In this sense, the government team stressed the need for citizens to take the initiative and implement the partnership, both youth and their parents.

Not forgetting the need to create a social fabric that promotes the culture of Mazarrón.
