City council and different sectors of the municipality invite to participate in the sensitization days against gender violence (20/11/2017)

The Mazarron society again shows its rejection against gender violence and its commitment and support to the victims of this scourge that both administration and associations and other entities wish to eradicate.

Coinciding with the Day Against Gender Violence that takes place on November 25, the City Council and different sectors of the population have organized awareness days that began at the beginning of November in the institutes of the municipality.

There specialized educators, through talks addressed to the students, have emphasized the need to control certain behaviors that point to signs of this type of violence and that usually take place at an early age.

A series of activities that have been presented this Monday by the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, are added to the talks at the institutes this week.

"The purpose of these days is to show our total and absolute rejection of gender violence and encourage models of coexistence based on respect and equality, the most important being that this message be inculcated at an early age."

With these words the Mayor of Mazarrón has expressed her commitment that next Friday, November 24, she will proceed to give a Reading of the Manifesto against Gender Violence in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento at 11:00 am.

Then students of the IES Antonio Hellín and Felipe II, of the Siglo XXI School and the users of the Center for People with Disabilities will show their work in the different projects they have been doing in the centers.

The morning will end with the usual Gymkana for Equality.

The set of events organized for this week has been presented by the Councilor for Social Policy, Laura Ortiz. In the Day Against Gender Violence of next November 25, Red Cross will be an active part of these days in an Information Board organized next to the CAVI of the Town Hall of Mazarrón.

It will take place at 10:00 in the weekly market of Mazarrón, taking advantage of the greater presence of neighbors and visitors.

This will be followed by various activities in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, starting at 12:00.

To these days have also joined the shops of the municipality through a campaign organized by the Association of Merchants of Mazarrón y Comarca (ACOMA).

In the different participating establishments these days a violet ribbon looks like a symbol of commitment.

On the other hand, Felicidad Cano will offer a Talleroterapia Workshop on Thursday, November 23 at the Center for People with Disabilities of Mazarrón.

On Monday, November 27, the City Council hosts a Local Coordination Table against Gender Violence.

Throughout the year, the CAVI office has opened 53 new cases for gender violence.
