Agreement with Cáritas de Mazarrón and aid associations to assist people at risk of social exclusion (12/01/2017)

The City Council renews the annual endowments received by the parish of San Andrés, Nuevo Rumbo and Making a Difference with the aim of serving the most needy people and improving their living conditions

The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez and the parish priest of San Andrés and San Antonio, Francisco José Fernández, signed this Thursday the collaboration agreement that supposes the allocation of the City of Mazarrón of 4,650 euros per year for the development of activities related to the aid Directly to people in urgent need or at risk of social exclusion.

The agreement contemplates the acquisition, by Caritas Parroquial de Mazarrón, of food and other necessities and the attention of the essential expenses of a house.

Its heading is due to the obligation to provide a means of rapid intervention in serious situations of urgent need.

Likewise, the Making a Difference and Nuevo Rumbo associations have also renewed the annual allocations they receive from the City Council for the development of their projects to improve the living conditions of the residents of Mazarrón who are at risk of social exclusion.

Both associations will receive the amount of 3,300 euros per year, each one, for the exercise of its activity.

Janet Marion Stella McGuire and Alfonso Santiago thanked, on behalf of both associations, the municipal support received.

The signing of the three conventions was attended by the Councilor for Social Policy, Laura Ortiz.

The agreement also contemplates the predisposition to propose monthly meetings to constitute criteria and forms of adjudication, organization and optimization of resources.

Agreement with the Pensioners' Club

The City Council and the Pensioners' Club of Mazarrón have also renewed the collaboration agreement for the development of activities of a cultural, sporting and physical character that are carried out in this center of majors.

The City Council supports these projects with the aim of improving the living conditions of the Third Age residents of the municipality.

The renovation involves the endowment of 6,000 euros per year.

The development of activities planned by the Pensioners' Club includes the exchange with other centers of elderly people, coexistence, craft workshops, cultural trips, activities to disseminate and improve the quality of life of the elderly, maintenance and equipment of the center , among other.

Juan Pérez, president of the Pensioners' Club, stressed the importance of the municipal subsidy for the daily activity carried out in the center.
