Educational community, businesses and institutions show their rejection of gender violence (23/11/2016)

The educational community, shops, associations of the municipality and the City Council will turn on next Friday in a wide agenda of activities of sensitization that will serve to commemorate the International Day Against the Violence of Gender.

The program developed for that day by the Department of Social Policy was presented Wednesday by the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez and the mayor, Laura Ortiz, accompanied by the head of the Center for Women Victims of Gender Violence CAVI), Rosa Jorquera and by the social worker, Isabel Fernández.

The events of Friday 25 November will begin at 11:30 am with the Reading of the Institutional Manifesto, by the mayor of Mazarrón, in the Town Hall Square.

Then a "Drops of Balloons" mauve as a symbol of rejection of gender violence.

At 12:00 hours will be the "Presentation of activities to raise awareness of secondary school students" with the participation of students of the Siglo XXI School and users of the Day Center for Persons with Disabilities.

At 13:00 hours, Juan Antonio Garcia, monitor of the La Aceña Gym, will be at the head of the activity "Zumba for Equality".

In the afternoon, at 7:00 pm in the Cultural Center, IES Domingo Valdivieso's theater students will perform the play "If you want me, love me well" .. The program will close the performance of the School of Dance of Juan Antonio Iglesias.

At the same time, the City Council, with the collaboration of the Association of Merchants of Mazarron and Comarca (ACOMA), has wanted to extend the campaign against gender violence to local businesses.

Those wishing to participate in this sample of rejection must wear a mauve color ribbon in their establishments and send a photograph to the mail cavi.ts@mazarron.es

65 new cases in 2016

The municipal official of the Center for Assistance to Women Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI), as well as the social worker, Isabel Fernández, have made a balance of data recorded throughout 2016. As of 22 November, 65 new cases, registering a total of 119 attentions, requesting protection order in 32 of the cases.

Mainly the nationality of the women served is Spanish, followed by the Ecuadorian and Moroccan, also registering another 7 nationalities.

The CAVI of Mazarrón offers individualized attention of psychological, legal and social work type.

Also, there is a traveling service of psychological attention to children and minor daughters of women victims of gender violence.

In addition, ATENPRO, ESCAN, Telephone Translation, Attention to Underage Girls and the specific agreement signed with the SEF and the General Directorate for Women.

The CAVI also works in a coordinated way with the Local Police and Civil Guard, with the municipal social services professionals and with the educational and sanitary centers.
