Last Saturday, November 12, the Mazarrón music band, together with the "Terpsícore" Dance School and the "Antonio Jara" Dance School, offered a magnificent show in the Cañadica sports hall.

The three artistic groups have come together to carry out the project "Chords of music and dance", a collaboration that gave the public of Mazarrón with a colorful show of music and dance.

The first part of the concert was conducted by the band "Maestro Eugenio Calderón", which began with the pasodoble "Las Provincias", composed by the brothers Arturo and Vicente Terol.

He followed the "Turkish March" of Mozart, to end the first part of the concert with "Finland", a symphonic poem written by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius in 1899 to symbolize the oppression and struggle of the Finnish people to preserve their independence.

After the master performance of the band, there was a pause, during which the "Maestro Eugenio Calderón" Association presented to the new musicians who throughout this year have joined their band: Paula Garrido Marín (Clarinete) Carmen Alarcón Navarro (flute), Fernando Morillas Moreno (tuba) and Douglas Read (trumpet).

A fellow band member handed the pin with the association's coat of arms to each of the new musicians.

The dance was the protagonist of the second part.

The "Antonio Jara" dance school began, making the audience enjoy their choreography of the pasodoble "Spain Cañí", by the composer Pascual Marquina Narro.

Ten young people displayed their grace and salt on the stage, stamping and shaking their shawls to the rhythm of this popular pasodoble bullfighter.

The "Terpsícore" dance studio continued with the "Concierto de Aranjuez" by maestro Joaquín Rodrigo, with Alejandro Castañeda Durá as soloist trumpet.

In an original and colorful staging, five classical dancers, with elegant black tutus, and five flamenco dancers, with large red shawls, symbolized the classic and Spanish character of this piece of universal fame.

The third piece was the Allegro of "The Symphony of Toys" by Haydn.

Another group of ten girls from the dance school "Antonio Jara", dressed in scarecrows, performed a nice choreography to the rhythm of the birds' trills and the cucus that sound in this piece where some musicians play toy instruments.

It ended with "In the mood" by Glenn Miller, a big band work that became famous in the 1940s and became a classic.

Eight young people from the dance studio "Terpsícore", impressed to their movements the vertiginous rhythm of trumpets and trombones for a spectacular closing of function.
