Mazarrón account from this weekend with a new exhibition hall.
Located in the Roman Factory Puerto de Mazarrón, expands the cultural offer of the municipality.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez opened the new hall that bears the name of versatilis.
This new exhibition space opened with the exhibition "Weather Detainee. The photographic legacy of Don Emeterio Cuadrado".
The event was attended by Manuel Cuadrado, son of the author of the photographs on exhibit.
The exhibition is a graphic homage to the figure of D. Emeterio Cuadrado (1907-2002), engineer of roads, canals and ports that was one of the pioneering figures of the regional archeology, who discovered and excavated for forty years the Iberian complex the Cigarralejo (Mula), creating an important collection which is the basis of the current National Art Museum Iberian Cigarralejo.
The son of Don Emeterio, Manuel Cuadrado, highlighted the figure of his father who in retirement time "got to see crystallized his work by giving his collection to the State and see it exhibited at the Museum of Mula Cigarralejo".
The exhibition, said Manuel Cuadrado, "is a photographic exhibition starring Professor Juan Blánquez, a student of my father and today professor and family friend," said Manuel Cuadrado, who gave praise to the new exhibition hall in Puerto de Mazarrón "with live archeology which almost can touch, being by her very suitable to host an exhibition of this subject".
Alicia Jimenez wanted to congratulate the municipal archaeologist, Maria Martinez and the Councillor for Culture, Pedro Martinez, "the idea combines the current museum with the exhibition side, as it opens new possibilities and enriches the cultural offer of the town to attract visitors ".
