| The collection of signatures will take place on the seafront and weekly market of the Port and on the Paseo de Bolnuevo | The Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) to obtain the recognition of the legal personality of the Mar Menor and its basin, will collect signatures this Sunday, March 7, in various parts of the municipality.
This ILP aims to grant its own rights to the Mar Menor through the recognition of legal personality.
According to Law 9/1984, 500,000 signatures are needed to submit this ILP to the Congress of Deputies for approval.
The deadline to obtain them ends on July 28, although, if they are not reached by that date, there is the possibility of requesting a 3-month extension.
One of these collections of signatures scheduled by the ILP will take place this Sunday, March 7, in the municipality.
Specifically, it will be possible to sign in defense of the Mar Menor on the 'Francisco Martínez Muñoz' promenade and in the weekly market of the Port, as well as on the Bolnuevo promenade.
There are also 4 fixed signature collection points in the municipality with which the Mazarrón consistory collaborates: the registry of the administrative building of the Town Hall, Town Halls and the Municipal Libraries of Mazarrón and Puerto.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, encourages residents "to sign in defense of this unique ecosystem in the world so that we participate in its recovery." The municipal councilor stressed that "it is time for citizens to unite through this initiative in which a small gesture like our signature can mean a lot.
