The competition was presented by the Councilor for Sports, Francisco José García, the mayor of Puerto de Mazarrón, José María Moreno, and the president of the 'Bahía Surf' Sports Club, José María Cascales. Francisco José García explained that "we are now celebrating the tenth edition of this test that has the approval of the General Directorate of Sports and the Spanish Surf Federation and that it will have all the prevention measures against Covid".
The mayor encouraged citizens to "enjoy this show with responsibility and respecting security measures, since there will be a limited space so that there is separation between participants and the public." For his part, José María Cascales revealed that "despite the current circumstances, we have around 60 participants, which is a greater number than in other years." Among the attendees, "a very large group that comes from Catalonia, specifically from the Escudella Surf Club," pointed out Cascales, who also stressed that "in our club we have an increasingly large pool of surfers and we are very excited to compete." José María Moreno, councilor of Puerto de Mazarrón, stressed the importance that this type of sporting event has in the local economy, underlining that "from the government team we continue working to give life to the municipality with this type of event." The mayor wished participants and attendees to "enjoy our coast and our good weather, which accompanies us for much of the year, but also our establishments and businesses to support them in these difficult times."
