Mazarrón claims the need for a COVID point in the municipality (23/09/2020)

| Negative in the 130 tests carried out on officials and workers of the Mazarrón City Council | This morning, at the emergency doors of the Mazarrón Health Center, the acting mayor, Ginés Campillo, and the councilor for Health, Francisco José García; They have appeared before the press to report on the current situation of Covid-19 in the municipality, as well as the measures that must be carried out in the coming days to face the pandemic and the need to implement a ' Covid Point 'in Mazarrón.In this sense, the mayor of Health has stressed that the latest data on active cases of coronavirus confirm that the municipality has experienced a slight decrease, "although we are still above the regional average and that keeps us on alert, since we are the only municipality of area 2 that we have the two health centers on the red level for several days, "he explained. For this reason, Francisco José García has reiterated "the need to implement a Covid Point in Mazarrón is crucial and more than necessary at this time", because as the mayor has stressed, "there are families who cannot travel to Cartagena to perform the tests, and therefore, they are confined at home without knowing if they are positive or negative ".

The Ministry of Health of the Region of Murcia is responsible for installing this point. The Mazarrón City Council works daily in the fight and vindication of its implementation as quickly as possible, and especially when the town hall is performing all the functions that correspond to them within the scope of its powers; from the maintenance and cleaning of schools and institutes, to the daily disinfection of health centers and municipal offices, such as Cañada de Gallego and Camposol, so that their operation and protocol are correct at all times.

In this way, all security measures are complied with and work is done to ensure the health of the citizens of the municipality. In addition, the City Council is aware of the problems in the coordination that exists between health centers and educational ones, since a few days ago, the regional government explained that it would be solely and exclusively the Covid-19 trackers that would have the power to determine if a person has to be quarantined or can continue to lead a normal life.

Even so, there are cases in which these trackers advise children, mothers and fathers to keep the quarantine for having been in contact with a positive, and on the contrary, educational centers advise them to attend class after having given negative in PCR.Given this, the Councilor for Health defines this situation as "contradictory and an incongruity", since "the logical thing is that if a person has been in contact with a positive, even if negative in the PCR you must keep a quarantine of fifteen days, already that during that period you can test positive later, "he added. The acting mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, has corroborated the need for the COVID point, as he explained that "its installation is necessary and important because although there are 142 active cases in the municipality, it only represents an incidence of 0.44%, and now is when we can continue to have the situation under control, through this tracking that can be carried out thanks to the 'Covid Point' and the agility when carrying out the tests ".Ginés Campillo has highlighted that "the logical thing is that it is implanted because we are a municipality of 32,000 inhabitants, although there are always more people than those registered, and the neighbors have to travel to Cartagena and they do not always have the means", clarifying that "we are working in providing coverage to those people who cannot move and cannot do so through the Red Cross, which is collaborating in this regard, and we will continue to do so until the 'Covid Point' is implemented ", he added.Ginés Campillo also explained that yesterday morning a meeting was held with the service company that has been hired by the City Council to expand disinfection in Mazarrón.

"Well, we are going to implement the same measures that were carried out in full confinement, disinfecting each and every one of the areas that correspond to the municipality, and we will begin with those in which there is more traffic of people and more spread of viruses."The mayor has also denounced that "it is inadmissible that there is not a working table between the Health Department and the City Council, to make decisions based on the information they handle on a daily basis", and therefore, demands that "there be greater coordination, since we are in time to remedy this situation, because patching after this worsens more is not the solution, "he concluded.Regarding the serological tests carried out among the City Council staff, the acting mayor has announced that there is no new positive.

"Only one of the officials of the 130 tests carried out was positive in the serological test, which was later negative in the PCR, and two of them have shown antibodies" so "the situation is more than controlled and the main building and the Cultural Center, as well as its library, are once again open to the public, after the disinfection of all these facilities ", concluded Ginés Campillo.
