The city council intensifies the work on the coast in the face of the de-escalation and begins to act on the beaches (08/05/2020)

| Disinfection work has increased in areas such as El Alamillo and green spaces and gardens are being adapted | The Mazarrón City Council has begun to intensify the work towards the arrival of phase I of the de-escalation (which will begin in Murcia foreseeably this coming Monday) with improvements and arrangements that are being carried out by the Department of Services, Parks and Gardens and Coastal Services.

The work is being carried out both in the green areas and public spaces of the municipality, as well as on the beaches of the Mazarron coast in view of the future opening of the same in the de-escalation. On the beaches, the Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, considers that said opening must be carried out with the maximum security conditions and is committed to the fact that they open in early June within phase III as planned from the beginning, instead of advance said opening to May 25 as proposed by the Regional Government.

For the first mayor, "the health of our neighbors must prevail above all.

They have given a great example during the Alarm State and it would be terrible to destroy all that effort to want to go faster than the health authorities indicate." The first works that are being undertaken on the beaches are, in addition to the usual tasks of adaptation and cleaning, the repair of the damage caused by the continuous storms that occurred during the month of April.

These arrangements have begun on the Alamillo beach and will be extended to other points on the coast where some improvements have also to be made to restore them to their original state. The Department of Services is also carrying out an exhaustive cleaning and disinfection of the coastal area, with special attention to the promenades of the Port, El Castellar and Bolnuevo where disinfection work has also been intensified since they are areas that are being widely used by citizens to walk or play sports within the hours in which it has been permitted.

The Bahía de Mazarrón company and the Actúa contract are in charge of these tasks In addition, throughout the morning today disinfection has also intensified in the Alamillo area, where several citizens had requested an increase in these works in some streets such as Punta Mala, Punta de los Baños, Punta Sabinal, Punta del Faro, Punta Fangar, among others.

With the jets of the truck that is carrying out the work in this area, all the asphalt is covered, reaching the sidewalk and about 40 centimeters from the facade. Another aspect that is being worked on is in the parks, gardens and green areas, with disinfection by Bahía de Mazarrón and the Orthem contract, which also performs clearing and pruning work.

One of these pruning tasks is focused these days on palm trees in the coastal area where it is planned to plant a new 20 specimens to replace those that had been affected by the red palm weevil and that have not been able to recover despite the treatments used.
