The main objective of the City Council of Mazarrón is to motivate the citizens of the municipality to participate in the various activities offered.
And this has been demonstrated in the programming of this year's Carnival, with a multitude of novelties.
One of the ones that has attracted the most attention from the public has been the celebration of the I Carnival of Pets, organized by the Department of Animal Welfare together with the collaboration of the Association of Animal Protection of Mazarrón (APROAMA).
A contest that took place last Saturday, February 29 in the Municipal Tent that the Department of Celebrations had placed for the celebration of Carnival activities.
A contest where pets could show that they can also participate in the carnival.
Likewise, the owners had the opportunity to increase their creativity when preparing the best costume for themselves and their pet and thus be able to qualify for the awards that had been established in various categories.
The awards ceremony was given by the Councilor for Animal Welfare, Silvia García, and the Councilor for Tourism, Raquel Raja.
This is how Pancho, Zizou and Wagner, or rather the "Musketeers", were the winners of the 'Most elaborate costume'.
On the other hand, Coco became the winner of the 'Most Original Costume' while the 'Funniest Costume' went "Coco's feet".
Finally, the prize for best 'owner and pet costume' was won by Anayira with her dog Akira.
Without a doubt, this carnival has been different in all aspects because, in addition to the fun, the charitable work of both the town hall and the citizens has also been present, because collaborating in this type of events helps to achieve good causes, in this case, to rescue animals in situations of abandonment and helplessness.
