The poetry contest 'DECLARA-T', organized by the Department of Archives and Libraries to promote literary creation among the citizens of the municipality, already has the winners of its eighth edition.
The award ceremony for the winners in each category was held at the Cultural Center of Mazarrón with the presence of the area councilor, Conchi Aparicio, who was responsible for revealing the winners;
and the mayor Plácida Gómez, Raquel Raja and Salvador Sánchez.
The first prize in the category of 'Students' went to Sofía Sancho, a student of 2nd Baccalaureate from the IES Domingo Valdivieso, for her poem 'Words lovers'.
The second prize went to Marcos Alania, a 1st year high school student at the IES Antonio Hellín for his work 'September'.
Finally, the third prize was awarded to Vladimira Ponomarenko, 2nd year high school student of the IES Domingo Valdivieso, for his poem 'Calma'.
In the category of 'Adults', the first prize was awarded to María Dolores Blaya for her work 'The Kiss'.
The second of the awards in this category went to Victoria Blaya who participated with the poem 'I will have to learn'.
Finally, Raquel Sáez won the third prize of this poetry contest with her work 'Prepositionally speaking'.
The Councilor for Archives and Libraries, Conchi Aparicio, congratulated the winners and, making an outstanding intervention on literary creation, said that "this event is important because the world needs poetry, in this case love."
Aparicio was pleasantly surprised that there were many male participants because "poetry seems like a girl thing, but poetry is a matter of the soul" and "an awakening to art in every way."
