Mazarrón, the first municipality in the region of Murcia to host the ´Stars´ project of the DGT (14/10/2019)

This morning the auditorium of the City Council of Mazarrón has hosted a talk organized by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) and the Department of Local Police for those responsible for the educational centers of Mazarrón, as well as representatives of the AMPAS, to publicize the 'STARS Project' in the Secondary Education centers and 'The Snake Game' in the primary schools of the municipality.

The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, the provincial head of Traffic of Murcia, Virginia Jerez, and the pedagogical advisor of the Unit of Educational Intervention in Central Services of the DGT, Raquel Navas have been in charge of welcoming the participants.

The Local Police have managed this initiative in order to promote healthy and safe mobility for all citizens "in order to fight against climate change and defend the Environment in a sustainable way", as indicated by the mayor of Mazarrón , Gaspar Miras.

The first mayor has been especially satisfied both "to verify the involvement of the educational centers of the municipality with road safety with this extensive assistance to the talk" and "because an institute of the municipality is the first in the Region of Murcia to host the STARS project of the DGT ".

Gaspar Miras has highlighted, in this sense, the "great work of the Road Education area of ​​the Local Police" and has promised that "as far as possible, the City Council will bet on their budgets so that this project does not stay here if not that other actions take place in the coming years. "

For his part, Virginia Jerez said that "it is fortunate that both the City Council and the Local Police have full involvement with this type of initiative."

The provincial head of Traffic in Murcia has also thanked "the good reception of the educational centers that are the environment that we are going to refer to when we talk about sustainability and safe travel."

Jerez has shown "the commitment of the DGT to be by your side to launch this project and our total disposition".

Finally, Raquel Navas stressed that "I come from Madrid and I am proud to be in a municipality that will be a pioneer in the Region of Murcia to launch the 'STARS Project' and that already has a trajectory with active mobility in some centers where they have worked the 'Game of the Snake' that we will also explain ".

Navas has specified that "with this type of action the DGT seeks to ensure that sustainable mobility is a reality in our cities because climate change is there and we are marked worldwide this change."
