Today, the first seabed cleaning organized for this month has been held in the waters of Mazarrón Bay, which was run by the 'Diving Hispania' center.
An appointment attended by the mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, the Councilor for the Environment, Plácida Gómez, and the mayor of Servicios del Litoral y Festejos, Raquel Raja and Miguel Ángel Peńa.
In addition, actress and monologuist Sara Escudero has also been present as "godmother" of the event.
In total, up to a total of 800 kilos of debris from the bottom of the sea have been collected, among which the remains of a ship that had been shipwrecked and that has added a high number of kilos to which they have composed the final figure and between those who have not missed "plastic bottles, cans and even some containers" as Carlos and Elba Simón, responsible for 'Diving Hispania' and organizers of the activity in which the City Council of Mazarrón collaborates.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, has congratulated the aforementioned center and the divers "for this work they are doing today and that has been repeated for 25 years when they started being the Zoea diving center".
The mayor has highlighted "the importance of this action aimed at raising awareness in society that we have to keep our seas clean" and has shown "the total willingness and support of the City Council of Mazarrón so that this appointment is repeated for many years and that , if it stops being done, it is because there is no more garbage to collect.
A new cleaning of seabed will take place next weekend.
A new appointment within the XXV Cleaning of Seabed that will also be the V Cleaning at the International level.
The activity will be presented this Monday by the first deputy mayor, Ginés Campillo, the president of the Murcian Federation of Underwater Activities, Jesús Cano, and the director of the Southeast Diving Center 'Bachisub', Alfonso Bachiller, whose center organizes the cleaning next to the City Council of Mazarrón.
