Tourist occupation during the first half of September in the municipality reached 51.08% according to data collected by the Department of Tourism of the City of Mazarrón.
Specifically, hotel occupancy reached 65.64%, in apartments it reached 50.62% and in campsites it remained at 37%, largely due to the maintenance tasks that these tourist accommodations perform during the month September took advantage of the change from the high summer season to the high autumn-winter season.
The data is somewhat lower than the forecast made at the end of August, not only for the aforementioned maintenance work in the campsites, but also for some cancellations that occurred due to the passage of the DANA through the Region of Murcia.
In this sense, between September 11 and 15, 6.02% of cancellations were made in Mazarrón on the reservations planned on those dates.
In the most conflictive days of the storm, the average occupation in Mazarrón was 57.16% in hotels and an estimated average cancellation of 10%, apartments with 46.28% and an estimated average cancellation of 3.75% and 26, 5% in campsites and 3% cancellations.
With regard to the overall balance, the employer Hostetur has made a positive assessment of the tourism campaign in Mazarrón with an increase of about two occupancy points in the months of July and August.
