Last Saturday Mazarrón gave honors to the Virgin of the Swan with a massive celebration that did not lack the traditions, gastronomy, and folklore of the Ecuadorian community that gathered a year around 'La Churonita'.
Hundreds of people, both from Mazarrón and from other parts of the regional geography, participated in the events scheduled by the brotherhood of the Virgen del Cisne and the Association 'Río Amazonas'.
Especially exciting was the mass and procession with the image of the virgin through the streets of Mazarrón.
A celebration that was not lacking the mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, the consul of Ecuador in Murcia, Daniel Peñaranda, the first deputy mayor, Ginés Campillo, and the councilors of the government team, Plácida Gómez and Tomás Ureña.
Already at night, the fairground hosted the most playful events of the day with the performance of folk groups that promote Ecuadorian traditions such as the traditional 'crazy cows'-, the tasting of typical products and dishes of the country, as well as the performance of various artists who made those present enjoy popular songs and rhythms of the South American nation.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, the consul of Ecuador in Murcia, Daniel Peñaranda, the parliamentary spokesman and regional deputy of the PSRM-PSOE, Diego Conesa, the also socialist regional deputies, Alfonso Martínez Baños and Fernando Moreno , and the councilors of the Government team, Plácida Gómez and Conchi Aparicio.
The mayor congratulated the brotherhood and the association for the excellent work to carry out these festivities and for keeping the traditions of his country alive by highlighting that "you are a very participatory community and from the town hall we want to put ourselves at your disposal to build a Mazarrón integrative and rich in cultural diversity ".
