La Purísima returns home after its restoration (30/07/2019)

Last Saturday the restored image of La Purísima Concepción, patron saint of the municipality, was presented to the people of Mazarrón, by the restorer Eulalia Pinos.

The carving, the work of the imager Sánchez Lozano, was received at home by the mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, the priest of the parish of San Andrés and San Antonio de Padua, Antonio José Martínez, members of the Archicofradía de La Purísima and the Councilors Plácida Gómez, Tomás Ureña and Conchi Aparicio.

As the restorer explained, "first a deep cleaning of the image has been carried out and then a phase of repairs to fix small scratches and scratches, especially on the hands. Likewise, the image tabs have been changed , which had never been changed, for new ones tailored to the color of her hair. "

Eulalia Pinos thanked the parish priest and the archofraternity "who have trusted me to restore this beautiful image."

For its part, the president of the Archicofradía de la Purísima, Isabel María Ballesta, took the opportunity to announce the creation of a new mantle for the patron on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the creation of the carving.

"A mantle of embroidered dressing room with silver, gold and silk thread on German sky blue velvet."

The devotees can collaborate to achieve this initiative with a financial contribution of 30 euros.

Pastor Antonio José Martínez spoke directly to the employer saying "Mazarrón has missed you these 22 days that you have not been among us" and added that "we take you to restore because you have to continue waking life between us because your face reminds us that we must turn to others with respect and dignity and your eyes show us the clean look of God that we have to do ours to love our neighbor without prejudice. "

The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, congratulated himself that "our mother is already with us. How great to have faith and to be able to prove it without fear and without complexes" and congratulated "that dear or dear brother who, wanting to keep in the anonymity, has been the architect of these great restoration work. "

Miras also dedicated a few words to Juana Toledo Navarro who, "although he is not here physically, will always be part of this beautiful sanctuary and his beloved Archofraternity. Always my recognition towards his person."

The mayor ended his speech by exhorting the mazarroneros that "the meeting this afternoon with our patron keeps us in constant relationship with her talking to her, listening to her and thanking her".

The event ended with the attendees singing the hymn to La Purísima and a later kissing hand that, on this occasion, was made through a scapular and a tape to safeguard that part after the restoration process.
