The Musical Association "Maestro Eugenio Calderón" paid tribute to her patron with a varied concert offered by her three musical groups (28/11/2018)

On Saturday, November 24, the different groups of the Musical Association 'Maestro Eugenio Calderón', under the direction of Mr. Alejandro Castañeda Martínez, performed in the social room of the camping 'Playa de Mazarrón' in Bolnuevo before more than three hundred people.

The event was attended by several mayors of Mazarrón, including the councilor for culture, Pedro Martinez.

The concert began with the performance of the Adult Band, composed of the adult students of the Association's music school, beginning musicians who are in their second or third year of instrumental training.

This band performed three short pieces, ending with 'We will rock you' the popular Queen theme that has become the anthem of the new bands of the music school.

This piece was interpreted jointly by the Adult Band and the Youth Band, giving beginning to the performance of the latter.

The Youth Band continued with the second part of the concert.

This group is made up of students from the music school, as well as musicians who finished elementary education at the music school of Mazarrón and continue their musical studies at the middle grade conservatory.

The Youth Band performed the pieces 'Music from wicked', by Michael Sweeny, and 'A little music', by Colin Clarck.

Finally, the Band of Music of the Association, with the collaboration of the soloists Miguel Ángel Miras and Irene Tudela, interpreted songs and fragments of songs of different styles, singers and famous groups, both from the national and international sphere.

The public could enjoy songs by popular authors and national groups ranging from Nino Bravo, Raphael and Rocio Jurado, to Alaska and Mecano.

As well as themes of artists and foreign groups ranging from the popular song 'Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps' written in 1947 by the Cuban composer Osvaldo Farrés, to 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams, including also famous songs by Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones , Coldplay, Europe, The Beatles and the emblematic The Blue Brothers.

The soloists encouraged the large audience that enjoyed chanting the songs and accompanying the songs with palms.

The program performed by the Music Band is part of the magnificent concert that the Musical Association had planned to carry out during the patron saint festivities and that will not be carried out at that time, although the Association does not rule out performing the entire concert at another time and place .

After the concert, the musicians and partners continued the celebration of their feast with the traditional dinner of Santa Cecilia.
