The winners in the First Constitutional Olympiad receive their distinction at the University of Murcia (11/06/2018)

The Hall of Degrees of the Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia (UMU) hosted the awards ceremony of the I Constitutional Olympiad of Spain organized by the University of Murcia and the City of Mazarrón.

The event was chaired by the rector of the UMU, José Luján and by the first deputy mayor of the Municipality of Mazarrón, Pedro Martínez.

In said act, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded in individual modality, which corresponded to Nerea Fernández González, of IES Felipe II, as FIRST PRIZE;

Yannele Philip, of IES FELIPE II, as SECOND PRIZE;

and Juana Ibáńez Bejarano, from IES Domingo Valdivieso, as THIRD PRIZE.

Likewise, the prize of the Constitutional Olympiad will be given in centers modality to IES Felipe II.

Likewise, a plaque accrediting their participation was presented to the 4 secondary schools of Mazarrón (IES Felipe II, IES Domingo Valdivieso, IES Antonio Hellín Costa and Colegio Siglo XXI).

The Constitutional Olympiad of Mazarrón is the first Olympiad of these characteristics held in Spain, and the third in the world.

With it Mazarrón becomes the founding municipality of the Constitutional Olympiad in Spain, and the University of Murcia, for its part, in the creative University of the Constitutional Olympiad.

The Constitutional Olympiad aims to have more than 300 students of 4th of ESO from the 4 secondary schools of Mazarrón (IES Felipe II, IES Domingo Valdivieso-Mazarron, IES Antonio Hellín Costa, XXI century College, Puerto de Mazarron) study and know the Spanish Constitution of 1978 through the extracurricular activity in which an Olympiad consists.

The Olympiad formally began on December 6, the day of the Constitution, and formally concludes, with the awards ceremony, on June 8, the eve of the Day of the Region of Murcia.

It has consisted of two phases.

The first of them, the phase by centers, concluded last Friday, April 13 with an eliminatory test in which the 4 winners of each of the centers have been selected, who participated in the final phase of this Friday, April 20, which constitutes the second phase of the OC.

The final phase consisted in the "confrontation" of the 16 chosen ones that represented the 4 participating centers in the knockout rounds of the quarter / quarters / semifinals / final that took place on April 20 at the Cultural Center of Mazarrón.
