The counselor of the Presidency, Pedro Rivera, together with the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, visited today the sports complex of the Media Legua, on the road between the town and the Port, to know the works that are developed under the Plan of Obras y Servicios 2017, for which the Community finances with 184,000 euros the construction of two fields of beach volleyball and beach soccer.
Rivera said that "the municipal vocation of the Government of the President of the Community, Fernando López Miras, is manifested in many areas, but one that touches more closely the neighbors is the actions contained in the Works and Services Plan, which it can be defined as 'proximity' because it affects improvement actions in streets and sidewalks, renovation of public lighting, works in parks, replacement of services and works in municipal cultural, social, sports and market facilities, among others ".
In the case of Mazarrón, the works in the Media Legua complex, "are going to allow the municipality to increase its offer of sports facilities with new fields for the practice of sports as fashionable as beach sports, focusing on improvement, also, in a municipality dedicated to tourism, "Rivera stressed.
The investment by the Community exceeds 184,000 euros, and comes to complement that made in this complex with the construction of a car park capable of 180 seats, also financed for the most part with funds from the Regional Administration with about 91,000 euros.
The Works and Services Plan approved in 2017, whose actions are being implemented in the 41 municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants, contemplates an investment of 7.8 million euros, of which 6 million are contributed by the Community and the rest by the municipalities.
Rivera recalled that with these works "the regional government collaborates with the municipalities so that they can provide better conditions of local competition services and reduce the deficit of infrastructure and basic equipment in municipalities of less than 50,000 inhabitants."
