The Socialist Party calls on the Regional Government a subsidy can be held this year's edition of 'Fotogenio 2010' (09/05/2010)

The regional deputy, M ª Carmen Moreno, has filed a motion in the Regional Assembly in which the regional government requested a grant can be held this year a new edition of 'Fotogenio 2010'.

Moreno said there are precedents of other years in which the event has received grants from the Community budget in 2010 are both in the budget of the Autonomous Community of Murcia and in the regional corporations, dependent Ministry of Culture and Tourism, to allow financial assistance to this issue.

Socialist Party MP warned that the lack of financial support by the Community would threaten the viability of the project.

Indigenous product

Fotogenio is a product born and developed in Murcia, a tourist product, cultural and, above all, distinctive.

"There are music festivals, stage or film, but few photographers and none with the" formula "used in Fotogenio."

It is also, according to the deputy, an excellent letter of the Region in the cultural and tourist markets in Europe.

1,600 photographers

Fotogenio has been developing its activity in the town of Mazarrón.

The evolution of this event has grown, since 2006, which attracted 30 attendees to 2009, who registered 1,600 photographers from all over Spain and over 329 guests at activities.

The last edition had extensive media coverage and earned positive reviews, both for the quality of the event as its economic, cultural and tourism.

"The Socialists understand that could be exploited and scheduled events in the region to cover this issue of Fotogenio 2010," he said.
