Short Story Competition XXVI 'Villa de Mazarrón - Antonio del Olmo Segado' (27/01/2010)

The Town Council of Mazarron and the Universidad Popular de Mazarrón announces the XXVI Story Contest 'Villa de Mazarrón - Antonio del Olmo Segado' with the intention of supporting the creative writing of all writers in the Spanish language local, regional, national and international.

CONTEST RULES:

1.

May attend to award all people who want whatever their nationality, except those who received the first prize in previous editions of this event.

2.

The work which contributes to this contest must be written in Castilian and be an unpublished story is free as the subject matter hereof, and not awarded in other contests.

3.

It will feature original triplicate (three legible copies), typed double-spaced on one side, stapled in the upper left margin.

The extension will be a maximum of eight pages or Din A-4.

4.

The papers submitted to the contest not bear the name of the author, but will be signed with a pseudonym.

Each paper will attached an envelope in which, outside, must bear the title of the book and the pen, and inside the author's full name, address, telephone, email, title of the book and pen name.

Manuscripts should be sent to: Universidad Popular de Mazarrón XXVI Story Contest "Villa de Mazarrón"-Antonio Segado del Olmo.

The time limit of receiving the original February 28, 2009.

Will be admitted who works bearing the postmark date of origin or before the above.

5.

No works may be submitted by authors who died before the announcement of this call.

6.

The sponsors of the contest, appoint a Reading Committee prior to select the works on which, subsequently, the jury deliberations, which will be composed of personalities from the worlds of literature and the arts and the Director of the Universidad Popular de Mazarrón that act as Secretary, with voice but no vote.

The jury has the power to declare void the award of the prizes if, in his view, the work presented is not sufficient merit.

7.

The Jury's decision is final.

8.

Established the following awards will be subject to current tax legislation:

The first: worth 3,600 euros and plaque.

Consolation Prize: worth 2,400 euros and plaque.

9.

The different stages of the competition: receiving an original, initial screening, finalists and failure, will be published on the website www.upmazarron.org.

The jury's decision will be made public on July 23, 2010.

10.

The awards ceremony will be held on July 30, 2010, in a public ceremony in the presence of the authors if they are resident in Spain.

Non-attendance is the resignation.

11.

The winning stories will be held by the sponsors, with the same ownership of operating rights, and may edit or disseminated through any media.

Discretionary use of the winning stories in this contest, their authors will be subject to the express permission in each case, the organizers.

12.

Jobs do not win will not be returned, be destroyed them when they finish all the stages of the competition.

13.

Taking part in this competition implies acceptance of its rules.

All issues not covered in these rules shall be resolved by the organization for the benefit of the competition.
