Public Works will improve the working conditions of fishermen in Mazarrón with the construction of a craft workshop in the port (20/11/2009)

The infrastructure is located in the south basin of the Port, next to the fish market

The Director General of Transport and Ports Ministry of Public Works and Planning, Carmen Sandoval, and the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, accompanied by the larger pattern of the Fishermen's Association of the municipality, today visited the ship works workshop that the Ministry is running on the port to improve the working conditions of the town sinners.

The works of the new facility will benefit more than 200 workers and will also drive the development of fisheries in the municipality.

Carmen Sandoval, said, "are intended to support one of the largest fishing fleets in the region, optimizing their working conditions."

Infrastructure, located in the south basin of the Port, next to the fish market will protect workers from adverse weather conditions, avoiding exposure to the sun or rain and providing a safe place to lay their tools.

The works have a budget in excess of 280,000 euros and involve the construction of a ship metal workshop which will have a mezzanine.

"With these changes" said Sandoval, we hope to respond to a request from the Fishermen's Association of Mazarrón, so that professionals can perform the maintenance of their fleets with more security and comfort. "

A clean and sustainable port

The director general said that the Ministry, through the Directorate General for Transport and Ports, will install a ecopunto in the fishing port of Mazarrón, "in order to protect the coastline of the municipality through responsible management of waste in this area high marine activity. "

"With the installation of this new ecopunto continue to develop a regional policy responsible and respectful of the marine environment, a direct consequence of the guidelines set by the Plan of waste reception and handling at sea ports," said the director general.
