Luis Marino is 'The Ursi path' (01/12/2008)

This week will unveil the best kept secret: 'The Path of Ursi', consists of 29 sculptures by 19 artists, among which is the Mazarron Luis Marino.

This initiative was created to promote the natural resources of the mountains of Palencia through the art of sculpture became also a tribute to Ursi, who died on January 7, 2007.

The route of the pedestrian path is to preserve the natural resources of the area.

Mazarron sculptor has contributed to this artistic path a compendium of works called 'The game Ursi', whose piece is 7 meters high, 2.55 wide and 1 deep.

The piece, located in the municipality of Valle de Santullán, consists of 4,700 kilos of steel and 17,400 kilos of concrete.

This colossal work is installed on a stretch of ten miles between the northern town of Villabellaco and the sanctuary of Carmen, whose itinerary was born in Martinez's hometown Ursicinus 'Ursi', a sculptor who is dedicated to the artistic path.

The use of the material for this work and the title is justified by the words of Luis Marino: "The architectural and steel sculpture as an excuse to honor the work that has left us Ursi, his playing style ... life, a serious game ... the game Ursi, as reflected in the text that appears on a plaque attached to the sculpture.

Brief biography of Louis Marino

Luis Marino, who was born in Mazarrón (Murcia), began as a child in the painting.

In 1984 he traveled to New York, where he was part of the GALA group with whom participated in six exhibitions.

His comprehensive background makes him a multidisciplinary artist thanks to his foray into forms such as sculpture, painting, videos and photographs.
