A comic illustrating the 'history of Mazarrón' (02/10/2008)

This morning the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and the Councillor for Education, Concepción Ballesta, have produced a comic book that tells the 'Story of Mazarrón' with the creators of it, Juan Alvarez and Jorge Gomez, recognized nationally for being responsible of 'the crumbs' and his contributions to the magazine 'El Jueves'.

The City Archivist, Magdalena Campos has been commissioned to provide historical documentation creators of the coastal town.

This comic is composed of eight pages, which address the 2,000-year history of the coastal municipality through five characters.

The Erosion of Bolnuevo, Castle of Los Velez, City Hall, the vessel Phoenician, Roman Fish Salting Factory and mines are among the most symbolic monuments contained in this comic.

For Alvarez and Gomez has been a pleasure to illustrate in this comic history of the town, since both are considered to be in love with the land, Juan Alvarez for being born in Mazarrón and Jorge Gomez because usually spends the summer in the town.

Therefore, do not hesitate to reflect the most peculiar places Mazarrón for citizens to understand their history.

The audience it is intended, this publication are children aged between eleven and twelve years enrolled in sixth grade, therefore, be distributed in the nine schools that comprise the municipality.

This initiative's main objective is to bring local history to smaller fun way.

The Town Council of Mazarron, through the Department of Education has published 1,500 copies.
