The council and Labarum Group seal their agreement to settle the debt of Urbaser (29/10/2013)

This morning the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, and the president of Labarum Estate Group SA, David Knight, have signed agreement that the council Mazarron undertakes to pay the historical debt that the municipality has contracted with the company of rubbish ' Urbaser ', since 1995 it ceased to provide services in Mazarrón to the continued non-payment of council services for solid waste collection that was responsible.

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, explained that "thanks to the agreement signed today, not only face pay this historical debt but fail to generate interest. Few interests, since they started counted, have led to increased the said debt by almost 50% from the same ".

As of now, the City will pay up to 2018 8545721, 44 euros that is owed to the group 'Labarum'.

Ginés Campillo has stated that "from this month until May 2018, 150,000 euros will be provided on a monthly basis to group 'Labarum' while this month will make an extra payment plus an additional 150,000 euros which will be addressed interest earned and recognized for three court decisions for 1998, 2000 and 2002 ".

This agreement is possible "thanks to the improvement of the City's financial situation since we put in front of the town two years ago."

The mayor could not stifle criticism to "the disastrous management of the previous government teams, although even have enjoyed economic good times, have not shown that they were interested in work and solve the problems of Mazarrón as was this. More even if we have reached an agreement satisfactory to both parties, in a fast and simple ".

For his part, David Knight has expressed his "deep appreciation to the current government for this quick and professional intervention" and has called it "utterly inexplicable about the above corporations."

According to Knight, this agreement "is a very satisfactory solution for our group, it is better to start charging to continue to generate interest, resolving the conflict also had with the Mazarrón Town Council".

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, ended his speech by noting that "this debt had to be undertaken much earlier and is nothing but an example of the previous neglect of politicians who had no interest in working, or interest his people. Rather it have always been interested in other different things that did not respond to the public interest. A general interest in that we do work and will continue to defend the right of citizens of the municipality of Mazarrón ".
