The Crimson project was born with a dual purpose.

On the one hand, the diffusion of documentary heritage of the Region of Murcia, and secondly, its protection to ensure its preservation.

These objectives, antagonistic until recently, are now fully compatible thanks to the Information Technology and Communications that allow documents to spread around the world, via the Internet, while avoiding the manipulation of the originals, ensuring its preservation.

Modern digital technologies in addition to obtaining a true copy of each document, allow further processing of the images to remove blemishes, improve appearance or virtually reconstruct damaged areas in the original documents.

Mazarrón Town Council signed an agreement with the Region of Murcia to join the project, so that their historical documents were part of this ambitious project.

The agreement signed by the Mazarrón Town Council will undertake to facilitate access and sharing of these documentaries, to access their digitization, which would be reinstated after the file owner.

In return you will receive a high resolution digital copy of your documents that can install it on your Intranet for consulting or curious researchers without damaging the original, along with other low-resolution copy may be installed on the Web Archive or the City.

For its part, the City Council authorizes the Regional Administration using a low-resolution copy for dissemination in the Murcia regional portal Digital.
