Ginés Campillo and Jose Antonio Cobacho inaugurate the International Congress on Philip II (22/11/2012)

This morning the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, and the rector of the University of Murcia (UMU), José Antonio Cobacho, inaugurated the International Congress "Philip II and Almazarrón. The local construction of a global empire" held until Saturday at the hall of the House of Culture.

The ceremony was also attended by the manager of the Foundation CAJAMURCIA, Pascual Martinez, responsible for Institutional Relations "La Caixa", José Antonio Meseguer, the Councillor for Culture of the City of Mazarrón, Maria Celeste Soria, and the director of the committee Congress scientist and Professor of Modern History, Contemporary and Latin of the UMU, José Javier Ruiz.

During the three days of the conference will bring together in Mazarrón prestigious Spanish historians from universities such as Murcia, Seville and Valencia, as well as universities in France, Italy, Chile, Mexico and Portugal.

Both Pascual Martinez and Jose Antonio Meseguer have declared their firm commitment to culture and foundations have shown extremely pleased to participate in this conference which is a clear commitment to history, education and culture at all levels.
