Laura Freixas explains tomorrow, "why write precisely tales" (25/07/2012)

The story contest "Villa de Mazarron - Mowing Antonio del Olmo" facing the end of its morning edition XXVIII held a conference that will focus on this type of literature soon.

The writer Laura Freixas will star in a paper entitled "Why write precisely stories?"

and that will take place tomorrow at the hotel "Playa Grande" Puerto de Mazarron from 10 at night.

Freixas is a writer, journalist, essayist, novelist, editor and translator who studied Spanish in the French School in his hometown, Barcelona.

He earned a law degree in 1980, but has always been dedicated to writing.

It was known, for the first time in 1988 for his short story collection "The murderer on the wrist".

He has worked as a columnist for the newspaper La Vanguardia, and as literary critic for the newspaper El Pais.

In 1996 he compiled and wrote the foreword to an anthology of short stories by contemporary Spanish authors entitled "Mothers and Daughters" which reached nine editions in its first year of publication.

Is a contributor to literary journals such as Mercury, Letras Libres, Journal of books and has investigated the role of women in literature.

The result of these investigations was his essay "Literature and Women," contributing to a documented dialogue between writers and readers regardless of their sex.

The other appointment with the culture in this contest will be held Friday at the same location starting at 11 pm when making awards to the winners of this edition.

The first prize of 3,600 euros more plaque, the writer has been to Cadiz Juan de Molina for his story "Things that happen," and the second prize of 2,400 euros and a plaque, has gone to Ulysses Villanueva Madrid for his story "Nomad".

The awards gala will be attended by both authors and other personalities of Mazarron society and the world of literature and poets Soren regional Peñalver and Eloy Sanchez Rosillo.

Also present Mayor of Mazarron, Ginés Campillo, and the Councillor for Culture, Education and Tourism, Maria Celeste Soria, among other authorities and representatives of municipal politics.
