The ecological garden project receives a satisfactory home (04/04/2012)

The Department of Social Policy Mazarrón City Council is undertaking the project successfully HUSFA (Orchard Training Social Agroecological) taking place on the parcel that the Town Council of Mazarron has arranged for this initiative in the "La Aceña" by the Institute of Secondary Education Domingo Valdivieso.

The project, pioneering in the Region of Murcia for the involvement of trade unions, municipality and private enterprise, aims to make people who have seen their working time in agriculture or currently experiencing economic difficulties, to acquire the training necessary to generate a economic benefit in their shopping cart through the products they grow.

In this sense the participants are planting food staples such as potatoes, peppers, onions and beans among others.

The initiative also aims to equip people with the skills necessary to undertake agricultural activities, with added value such as ecology.

A total of 25 people, including unemployed and active workers in the food industry began to be trained by the Technical Workers' Commissions (CCOO).

Training is an essential requirement for the Council to grant the mining concession of plots for consumption of a people seeking their participation in it.

The course takes place over three weekends, Saturdays during the 15.30 hours to 20 hours and Sunday from 8 to 14 hours.

From the moment they run training courses, the consistory granted the plot for 1 year, renewable if the circumstances set forth in the contract.

During the project, the union not only ensure the adequacy of the plot, but contributed to the preparation of the site, fencing and drip irrigation system.

Once awarded the gardens, tutoring CCOO held until March 2013 to be monitor and support the process to obtain the final product.

The local company has paid AGRIMUR all the tools such as picks, hoes, legones and sit, while the City has prepared the plot, water and council staff Social Policy support and monitoring of cases in which is speaking.

The initiative is part of the development framework of the pilot project TREDAR Rural Development Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

Yesterday, several of the participants in this project were visited by the Councillor for Social Policy, Gender, Health and Heritage, Maria Martinez, who stressed that "the City Council we will ensure the proper development of this project, because we consider it a bet that will help many families with economic difficulties, themselves that their effort and work to improve their management of economic resources at their disposal. "

The mayor also explained that "our idea is to expand the project soon to new families as there are several that are on the waiting list and willing to participate in this social initiative."

Maria Martinez also stressed that the project HUSFA "not only means helping families economically, but also a way for components to spend more time together doing an activity they reported, in addition to training, personal satisfaction ".
