Foreign residents commemorate Armistice Day (11/11/2011)

Foreign residents living in Camposol have held this morning a ceremony to commemorate Armistice Day took place in the so-called "Garden of Memory", located in sector A of the development.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Mazarron, Campillo Gines, Councilman for the Care of Foreign Residents, Jose Gomez, the Councillor for Culture, Tourism and Education, Maria Celeste Soria, the mayor of Social Policy, Equality and Health, Maria Martinez, Councillor for Citizen Participation and the Environment, David Fernandez and the opposition councilor, Alicia Jimenez.

They, along with more than a hundred foreign nationals have participated in a Mass officiated was the Rev. Len Eaton of the Church of St. Nicholas.

During the same saved two minutes of silence in memory of soldiers and civilians killed in times of war.

After the ceremony, those present, who wore on their lapels to denote the popular poppy which has made a donation to needy ex-combatants, have proceeded to make a wreath.

This offering is the contribution of animals and plants which are then grown in the garden.

The Mayor of Mazarron, Ginés Campillo, has provided a small pine tree from the municipal nursery representing the City.

Those in attendance also placed along the garden variety of crosses, in which cruise you could see the popular poppy symbolizes this day and where they were engraved the names of loved ones who have been victims of war.

All members of the corporation have worn on their lapels their paper poppies and have even sung the hymns of the ceremony which was held entirely in English.

Armistice Day or Remembrance Day is a day to remember the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War.

This celebration takes place on November 11 as the official end of World War I, since major hostilities formally ended the war at 11 am on 11 November 1918, with the Armistice German firm.

A date has now been recalled in his sermon by the Rev. Len Eaton to an excited group of foreign citizens residing in the township.
