Two new water scooters reinforce Cruzeiro's rescue operation on the beaches of Mazarrón (25/07/2017)

Two new watercraft have been presented on Tuesday at the Mazarrón Regattas Club by the Mayor, Alicia Jiménez, the autonomous vice president of the Red Cross, Maite Sánchez Elduayen and the Councilor for Civil Protection, Laura Ortiz.

The acquisition reinforces the rescue operation that, together with the Mazarrón City Council, develops the NGO on the beaches of the municipality.

The PALS association has collaborated in the purchase of these two new vehicles and will also soon do the Lyons association, as indicated by the president of the Local Assembly of the Red Cross, Carmen Navarro.

Alicia Jiménez highlighted "the increase of safety and the improvement of the quality of the service that this new acquisition represents, given the rapid response offered by these two new vehicles."

Pedro Hernández, Head of the Municipal Emergency Service, has detailed that "these are two bikes technically designed for rescue with a development of 35-40 knots, with three stroke engines of 1,200 cubic centimeters."

In total 4 jet skis and a rescue boat are part of the mobile fleet that integrates the Plan Copla municipal for which they provide their service more than a hundred professionals.

In addition, 16 rescue canoes, 4 transport vehicles, 40 portable communication equipment, 16 oxygen therapy equipment, 16 resuscitators, 30 life vests and 37 rescue cans make up the technical means available to rescue personnel.

From July 1 to August 31, 36 lifeguards and patrons will serve in the 16 skillful surveillance posts on the coast: Mojón, Alamillo, Rihuete, Puerto-Rihuete, Puerto, La Isla Beach, Bahia, La Reya, La Pava, Nares, Castellar 1, Castellar 2, Bolnuevo Camping, Bolnuevo Center, Bolnuevo Oasis and Percheles.
