Fademur Murcia organizes a day in Mazarrón to promote active aging in rural areas (23/02/2017)

The Federation of Rural Women's Associations (Fademur) organizes in 13 autonomous communities the next weeks, fourteen days of sensitization on "Active aging" aimed at the rural population.

One of the most important challenges facing Spanish Administrations today is the design and implementation of active aging policies.

Increased population survival offers new opportunities associated with the active participation of older generations.

Age has ceased to be the exclusive instrument for determining the exit from the labor market.

In addition, the active participation of the elderly population opens new markets for goods and services for older clients.

The sensitization days launched by FADEMUR will focus on different topics of interest related to active and healthy aging, social services, dependency, care of caregivers, healthy eating, memory workshops;

And will be able to participate all those interested in the subject, as well as professionals of the social services, administrations and associations.

These actions will be developed in the communities of: Andalusia, Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia, Castilla la Mancha, Castile and Leon, Aragon, La Rioja, Valencian Community, Extremadura, Region of Murcia, Community of Madrid, and Balearic Islands

The objective of these actions is to provide guidance and support to advance the implementation of an active, healthy aging process, in accordance with people's expectations, especially in rural areas.

Fademur-Murcia organizes this day on February 24 in the town of Mazarrón in the day center for the Elderly, in a space ceded by the Town Hall of this municipality at 10:30 h.

The event will be held under the title "Healthy, active and participative aging", in which the Vice-President of Fademur-Murcia, Magdalena Méndez, Mayor Alicia Jiménez as well as specialists in social services, women's associations and public in General interested in the theme of the day.

For FADEMUR Murcia "just as it happens in cities, where the elderly have a wide range of activities to stay active, the inhabitants of villages should have the same opportunity, more if possible, due to the high degree of aging of the population And the situations of solitude and isolation in which many live ";

"Active aging", he adds, "should be considered a primary objective of both society as a whole and policy makers"

It is also necessary to pay particular attention to the growing group of elderly people, especially women who, for various reasons, face their old age alone.

Although solitude as a way of life is recognized today as an indicator of undoubted competence, it is no less true that when it occurs in advanced ages and with few social and family networks, competition becomes a risk, sometimes very high , To which we must try to offer solutions.

These awareness-raising activities are part of Fademur's project "RURAL COOPERATIVES OF PROXIMITY SERVICES, A MODEL OF ITINERARY FOR SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL INSERTION FOR THE RURAL ENVIRONMENT 2015-2016", which is being successfully implemented in fifteen Autonomous Communities and which has as its object both The integral training of rural women in certificates of professionalism, as their direct employment, given the high percentage of elderly and dependent people in rural municipalities.

This program is subsidized by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.

Fademur also promotes the creation of rural cooperatives of proximity services, in order to provide domestic help services in rural areas, on the one hand covering a local need, and on the other, favoring the creation of jobs for women in our Peoples, who find it more difficult to enter the labor market.

So far through this program have been created seven rural cooperatives that are already providing local services in different parts of the territory as well as catering services and homemade food at home.

This state program of Fademur aims, on the one hand, to fix population in the towns, and on the other, to create services of proximity in municipalities where there are none, to also favor the reconciliation of the personal, labor and family life of the inhabitants of the environment rural.
