Presented in Mazarrón a campaign that disseminates advice on safe bathing on the coast of the region (23/07/2016)

Civil Protection Volunteers handed out next August 70,000 bottles of water, whose label is inserted a Decalogue of advice aimed at preventing accidents on the beach.

The campaign, called 'Enjoy safe bathing' was presented today by the Minister of Presidency, Maria Dolores Pagán, on the beach of Puerto de Mazarrón, accompanied by the mayor of the town, Alicia Jimenez.

The Minister said that the campaign "aims to spread among beach users tips for safe bathing," such as whether to swim in supervised beaches, be alert to the color of the flag, know its meaning, follow the directions of lifeguards or protection from sun and heat.

For the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, it is "a campaign of vital interest to citizens", already successfully launched last year, which seeks to ensure the safety of beach users, so that they can enjoy them correctly and prevent accidents.

The information will be disseminated weekend of August on the beaches of greater numbers of people in each municipality.

Iran advice on the labels of 70,000 bottles of water to be distributed by volunteers of Civil Protection of the 8 coastal municipalities (San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Los Alcázares, La Union, Cartagena, Mazarrón, Lorca and Aguilas).

"We want to reduce the number of accidents and closer monitoring services and emergency care to citizens who are holidaying on the coast," said the minister, who explained that this action by "collaboration" between his department develops , emergency services and Civil Protection of coastal municipalities and the company Aquadeus.

The tips of the campaign will be broadcast simultaneously on social networks, in order to have the greatest diffusion.

In them it emphasizes the need to choose for bathing beaches with surveillance service and pay attention to the color of the flags and indications of the lifeguards.

This action complements the device arranged by the Plan Surveillance and Rescue in Beaches and Rescue at Sea Region (Copla Plan), which this summer has deployed 121 checkpoints scattered around 72 beaches and attended by 250 people, in which there are 13 rescue boats, jet skis 13, 19 pirogues rescue, 56 quads, 1 scooter, five ambulances and one ATV.

It also has 27 adapted for access from the beach to the water of disabled chairs.

The Minister of Presidency explained that the investment in operating the Copla Plan amounts to 672,633 euros, 20,000 more than in 2015, of which more than 503,000 euros are intended for surveillance and rescue beaches, and the rest to maritime rescue.

Maria Dolores Pagán recalled that during 2015 the resources assigned to Copla Plan "conducted in 56,233 performances beaches", of which 37,978 were attentions of social (consultations, helps people with disabilities, attention to missing persons);

17,764, cures wounds.

Also, 491 rescues were made, of which 331 were of people, and other vessels and floating elements.

This number of shares was 9 percent higher than in 2014 due mainly to increased social interventions.

The boats Maritime Rescue Group mobilized last year on 93 occasions in search of people and boats and to attend to damaged boats.

Most of these actions, 75 percent, was in the Mar Menor and the rest in the Mediterranean.
