The "Southeast Program" seeks to value the landscape of Mazarrón among the students (25/10/2019)

The Department of Environment, in coordination with the Department of Education and Tourism, has again promoted the so-called 'Southeast Program'.

"An environmental education project aimed at students of Infant, Primary, Secondary, Bachelor and FP of Mazarrón so that they know the environmental and landscape wealth that the municipality has", as announced by the Councilor for Environment, Plácida Gomez, who was accompanied by the head of Education and Tourism, Conchi Aparicio and Raquel Raja respectively.

Conchi Aparicio explained that his department is promoting the initiative among the different schools.

The Councilor for Education explained that "this year the 'Southeast Program' is focused on showing the landscapes. In Mazarrón we are lucky to have very different landscapes from beach areas, cliffs, mine area, irrigation, dry land, etc; so it has been focused so that schoolchildren enjoy their beauty so much that they understand that it is something they have to take care of. "

In this sense, Aparicio said that "through 45 outings, which will have their own guides, schoolchildren will learn so that the landscape is something that is theirs and that is the source of our economy through Fishing, Agriculture and, above all, Tourism. "

The mayor stressed that this approach "will promote that young people love our landscape and feel attached to it."

The departures will embrace from beaches such as La Isla or El Mojón, to mountains such as Las Herrerías, through the ecopark, the fishing port or the deposits of the municipality.

The Department of Tourism has been responsible for making available to the program the guides that will carry out the routes.

The head of the area, Raquel Raja, said that "it is a very necessary plan that has been forgotten for several years and we have put it back in place so that our schoolchildren, in addition to learning about the municipality, also have fun with these routes ".

The initiative also involves FACSA, ESAMUR, the Mazarrón Ecopark and the 112 Emergency Coordination Center.
