The mayor of Mazarrón and the first deputy mayor, Gaspar Miras and Ginés Campillo, attended this Wednesday the 'Fruit Attraction' fair held at the IFEMA site in Madrid.

Both visited the stands of several entrepreneurs and farmers from Mazarron at the meeting, as well as some of the region, as a sign of support from the City Council of Mazarrón to agriculture and local and regional economy related to this sector.

During the visit, both agreed with the president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, and the regional government spokeswoman, Ana Martínez Vidal, with whom they exchanged views on the future of the sector.

Among the stands visited, Miras and Campillo also shared ideas with those responsible for Agrícola Perichán, where they met firsthand the gazpachos, creams, sauces and natural juices 'Vibs' that the Mazarronera company has recently launched to the market, of the Paloma Group , from Novagric (Agricultural News), from Toro Verde, as well as from the Coato totanera cooperative and from the Cano Nature company in Torre Pacheco.

Another of the visits that were made was to the Proexport stand, to which other Mazarrón companies are associated that did not have their own stand such as Agrimur, Hortisa or the Deilor totanera that has facilities in the municipality.

There they collected the concerns of the businessmen before the arrival of Brexit, which will affect the export of fruits and vegetables to the United Kingdom because this country is one of the main markets.

The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, stressed "the importance that agriculture has in the economic development of the municipality" therefore "it is essential that from the administrations, and we as City Hall, support entrepreneurs and also medium and small farmers of Mazarrón ".

Miras highlighted the good organization of the meeting where "these entrepreneurs and farmers can contact customers, distributors and large stores and achieve greater business expansion."

The first deputy mayor, Ginés Campillo, also showed his satisfaction for the presence of the companies of the municipality in 'Fruit Attraction'.

A showcase that "shows both Mazarrón products and the Region of Murcia that has always been leading in the sector", noting that "from Mazarrón we no longer only offer tomatoes but also other products such as stone fruit".

The first deputy mayor also recalled that "in the time of crisis, Agriculture has maintained many jobs and therefore of course we have to be here supporting them, to continue with that consolidation in the market that they have consolidated and open new niches market, which has not yet been reached, through these fairs to get these new customers and strengthen their own.
