The town hall prepares at the notice of the AEMET for rains of up to 40 liters per square meter (26/08/2019)

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a warning this morning for adverse weather events of orange level expected from midnight and has warned of rains and storms that can be locally strong and can reach 40 liters per square meter in Mazarrón, Campo de Cartagena, Guadalentín Valley, Lorca, Águilas and Vega del Segura, the regional INUNMUR plan being in the pre-emergency phase.

Given this forecast, the mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, has also activated the Municipal Emergency Plan in its pre-emergency phase.

A decision that adds to the work of the City Council of Mazarrón that has intensified the work of cleaning and conditioning arches and scuppers in the municipality, with special attention to the Bay area in Puerto de Mazarrón, which began last 12 August on the occasion of another warning due to heavy rains issued by the AEMET.

The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, the Councilor for Services, Tomás Ureña, and the mayor of Civil Protection, Francisco José García, accompanied by municipal and effective operators of the Civil Protection and SEM area;

They have personally supervised the work this morning and have also been responsible for checking the status and operation of the pumps of the Bahia collector.

Likewise, the municipal representatives have come to the Wastewater Pumping Station (EBAR) of Puerto de Mazarrón where they have been informed by a member of FACSA of the operation and improvements made in recent months in the said station that pumps the water from the coastal town to the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of Mazarrón.

Mayor Gaspar Miras has explained that "we are going to be very aware of the situation in the municipality and especially of Bahia, if the announced rains arrive, to mitigate the damages that these could cause. As we all know, the problem of Bahia being found by under the sea level it will be there and our job is that the neighbors feel taken care of and protected to avoid the events that happened last Easter. "
