The PSOE gets the first step to suppress the toll of the AP-7 in the section that penalizes the residents of Mazarrón (22/05/2018)

The spokesman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group Joaquín López Pagán, the deputy speaker Alfonso Martínez Baños and the general secretary of the PSOE of Mazarron Gaspar Miras have expressed their satisfaction for the approval, in the Commission of Territorial Policy of the Assembly, of a socialist initiative for take the first step in the elimination of the toll to all the neighbors registered in the municipality of Mazarrón and be users of the AP-7 in the section that connects this town with Cartagena.

López Pagán regretted the abstention of the Popular Parliamentary Group, "and that they put themselves in profile in this just demand, which shows that the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, has been unable to transmit to her colleagues in the Regional Assembly that this is a real need of their neighbors and neighbors, and that was agreed in the municipal Plenary ".

For the socialist spokesman, "it is sad and contradictory that the PP uses excuses about responsibility and coherence in the City Council and then in the Assembly maintain a position contrary to that of its mayor in their municipality." The PP has shown that they have neither coherence nor responsibility or solidarity with these neighbors. "

The main circumstance that justifies this request is the fact that the inhabitants of Mazarrón have as a reference health center the General University Hospital Santa Lucía de Cartagena, which forces them to travel to the port city to be served;

In addition to other administrative procedures.

The Socialist spokesman said that if these citizens make the displacement by the current AP-7 are forced to pay an approximate cost of 11 euros to come and go.

An alternative route is through the RM-332, but it is a secondary mountain road, with numerous dangerous curves and prolongs the travel time in more than 20 minutes compared to the AP-7, "which in case of a health emergency could be decisive. "

The AP-7 has a total of nine tolls, which start at the trunk of Vera A-7 and end at the west Cartagena.

Along 115 kilometers there are seven toll points to the sides that are: Cuevas del Almanzora-Los Lobos, Pulpí-San Juan de los Terreros, Águilas-Lorca, Calabardina-Cabo de Cope, Ramonete-Cañada de Gallego-Punta de Calnegre, Totana-Mazarrón-Puerto de Mazarrón and Tallante-Las Palas-Fuente Álamo.

According to official data, the strip with the highest circulatory activity corresponds to Mazarrón and Águilas.

Thus, the payment traffic of the part that affects the Region doubles that of Almeria, where the Pulpí-Cuevas de Almanzora stretch is the least traveled.

Discrimination

For his part, the general secretary of the PSOE of Mazarrón Gaspar Miras said "that the residents of Mazarrón are in luck, because today has taken the first step to get a much needed old claim, which also supported the City of Mazarrón" .

Miras said "this initiative aims to do justice to the discrimination suffered by the inhabitants of this municipality, after eleven years of operation of the highway."

He recalled that in the years 94-95, when the project of the highway was being evaluated, the citizens of Mazarrón staged demonstrations and protests for this cause.

Then, two options were considered: one, the improvement of the accesses of Mazarrón to Cartagena;

and another, a toll exit through the AP-7, which finally prevailed.

Miras expressed hope that "the regional government will soon transfer this measure to the Government of the Nation and approve it, so that it can be implemented as soon as possible."

López Pagán and Miras assured that the PSOE will monitor compliance with this agreement.
